For an interior designer living in London, it can be hard to convince people that influences form ancient and classical Persia are hot - people tend to think overly intricate rugs, lots of marble and of course, the Iranian favourite - chandeliers. But once I whip out my look books of old Persian palaces, the reaction is usually one of jaw-dropping silence. We're talking elegance - not Middle Eastern chintz. I've now restored enough old Persian homes - and even a few palaces - to have earned people's confidence in me, but still in London, people want modern with a shabby chic touch - anything vaguely ethnic scares people off. And I'm here to change that! Will be posting some pictures of my work soon. Ramita.
